Renfrew Local Place Plan

Renfrew Local Place Plan

Renfrew’s first Community-Led Local Place Plan sets out the town’s priorities for the next 5–10 years. It reflects what residents, businesses, and local organisations told us matters most for Renfrew’s future.

The Plan has been developed by Renfrew Development Trust in collaboration with the Local Place Plan Steering Group and the wider community. It brings together feedback from surveys, engagement events, and discussions held throughout 2025 and 2026.

What is a Local Place Plan?

A Local Place Plan allows communities to formally set out their priorities for development, land use, and investment in their area.

Once submitted and registered, the Plan must be taken into account by Renfrewshire Council when preparing the Local Development Plan and considering future planning decisions.

It is our opportunity to ensure that Renfrew’s voice is clearly represented in how the town develops.

What the Plan covers

The Plan is structured around key themes identified through engagement:

  • Community Facilities & Public Space

  • Active Travel & Infrastructure

  • Heritage & Environment

  • Affordable Housing

  • Local Economy & Employment

  • Education Provision

Each section outlines the challenges, opportunities, and priorities raised by the community.

Current Status

The Renfrew Local Place Plan has now been formally approved by Renfrewshire Council and registered as Renfrew's first community-led Local Place Plan.

Developed through extensive engagement with local residents, organisations and stakeholders, the plan sets out a shared vision and priorities for the future of Renfrew.

The Local Place Plan will now be used to help inform future planning and investment decisions within the town.

Why This Matters

Renfrew continues to grow and change. This Plan sets out how the community would like to see that change managed — protecting valued green space and heritage, improving infrastructure, supporting local business, and ensuring development is balanced and sustainable.

It is about shaping the future of Renfrew in a way that reflects the needs and priorities of the people who live and work here.

Stay Involved

The Local Place Plan is not the end of the conversation.

We will continue to provide updates as the Plan progresses through the formal planning process. You can follow our updates on social media or sign up to our mailing list to stay informed.
